A Day in the Life of an HVAC Service Professional

Morning Preparations

The day starts early at 6:30 AM when I arrive at the Idaho Heating & Air warehouse. After checking my service schedule and loading up my truck with essential parts and tools, I’m ready to tackle whatever HVAC challenges await in the Treasure Valley.

First Call: Emergency AC Service

My first stop is in Meridian, where a family woke up to a non-functioning air conditioner. Summer temperatures in Idaho can be unforgiving, so these calls take priority. After a thorough diagnostic check, I identify a failing capacitor – a common issue that’s fortunately quick to resolve.

Mid-Morning: Routine Maintenance

The next appointment takes me to Boise for a scheduled furnace maintenance visit. Even though it’s summer, smart homeowners know that preventative care helps avoid emergency calls when winter arrives. I perform a comprehensive inspection, including:

• Checking heat exchangers
• Testing safety controls
• Cleaning burners
• Inspecting electrical connections
• Calibrating the thermostat

Afternoon: System Consultation

After lunch, I head to Nampa to meet with homeowners considering a full system replacement. Their furnace is approaching 20 years old, and efficiency has declined significantly. I take time to explain their options and help them understand the long-term cost benefits of upgrading to a more energy-efficient system.

End of Day: Emergency Furnace Repair

Just before heading back, I receive a call about a furnace issue in west Boise. An elderly couple’s heating system isn’t working properly, and with evening temperatures dropping, it needs immediate attention. A thorough inspection reveals a faulty ignitor, which I’m able to replace on the spot.

Every day brings different challenges and opportunities to help our community stay comfortable. Whether it’s battling the summer heat or ensuring warm homes in winter, being an HVAC professional means playing a vital role in maintaining our neighbors’ comfort and safety throughout the Treasure Valley.
